Emperor’s Medicine in Montville offers two streams of treatment: acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Dr David Moore structures his fees to make high quality Chinese medicine accessible to patients across the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Aligned with the principles of this medicine, his goal for patients is to assist them in transforming their health circumstances, mirroring the expectations set by Emperors in ancient times

He has structured his clinic into two broad streams of service: Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Below describes how these services are priced and structured:

Acupuncture

Dr David Moore utilises acupuncture to address a wide range of conditions including anxiety, sleep disorders, fatigue, digestive complaints, headaches and chronic pain, with a focus on providing affordable options for those dealing with persistent complaints.

Acupuncture, like other therapies, requires treatment momentum through a series of sessions. Patients will have a good idea of their response to acupuncture within the first several treatments, which will determine the required frequency of sessions.

Initial acupuncture appointments are conducted on a one-on-one basis at a cost of $100 per session.

Subsequent appointments, where suitable for a Community Acupuncture style of treatment, are priced at $50 per session.

During treatments where chronic pain is the main complaint, it is important that patients discern an immediate change in pain levels experienced during the session.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine has a sophisticated diagnostic framework to understand each patient’s health challenges and develop a customised treatment strategy. This approach may assist in addressing multiple concurrent health complaints simultaneously.

During the initial consultation, David undertakes a detailed health history and explores all the aspects the patient would like to change about their health situation.

Patients typically discern the impact of Chinese herbal medicine on symptoms within a short period. A trial period of three weeks is recommended to allow for calibration of the herbal prescription.

The total cost of the 3-week trial period is $550. This includes 3 appointments, 3 weeks of herbs, and nutritional and lifestyle advice.

During this trial period, it is important that patients observe tangible improvements in their primary health concerns.

Subsequent to the trial period, herbs are updated at $75 per bottle (approximately one week of herbal medicine) and $35 per consult, spaced at longer intervals as improvements stabilise.

Private health insurance rebates are available for eligible patients via HICAPS — simply swipe your card at the end of your appointment.
